Did you know social investment policies are popular in Japan despite unfamiliarity with the term? This study investigates voter attitudes toward these policies, which aim to boost productivity through inclusive human capital development. We find broad support among citizens - especially women and those with liberal leanings - though higher-income voters also favor them.
In contrast, male respondents showed less enthusiasm for social investment when combined with cuts to social security benefits. These insights help policymakers understand how to implement effective welfare state reforms without risking electoral outcomes.
