This study investigates whether Kenyan politicians can exploit ethnic grievances through land-related appeals.
Experimental Design: We analyzed survey responses from diverse communities across Kenya to assess how different appeals affect public perception and political behavior.
Key Findings: Targeted land grievances significantly influence voters' decisions along ethnic lines, often deepening existing tensions rather than promoting unity. Our results show politicians can strategically leverage these issues for electoral advantage without addressing underlying problems fairly.
This research contributes to understanding the dynamics of ethnic politics in developing nations by demonstrating how perceived injustices become tools for political manipulation.
